  1. The reason is that water is corrosive agent so tubes are easily replace if corroded instead of shell.

  5. Following observations may be considered .
    1. Yes, you can , except that additional pressure drop on account of increased static head.
2.Should at all be needed tube cleaning / replacement will be less space demanidng and will be easy in vertical orientation.
    3. Expansion issues need to be carefully looked into more carefully with a vertical installation.

Let us see whether more enlightened suggestions will be offered by the learned colleagues.

    Dear Friends,

Please help me to find out following lube oil properties of SAE oil grades (SAE 30, 40 etc.) or ISO VGO series oil for tempearatue from 15 degree C to 100 Degree C.
    - Thermal Conductivity
    - Density
    - Specific Heat
    - Viscosity

The above is required for oil cooler design. I have seen that different designer's are using different values for same oil.

I need any good reference. Please help.

  9. Dear all,
Can we use plate type heat exchangers in place of Shell & Tube for lube Oil Cooling applications?
Advantages & Disadvantages of Plate type Coolers ?

    Thanks
    Praphulla

  10. If there are cleaning issues with regard to water quality, you can not do it with plate type heat exchangers easily
More governing consideration is the first cost of installation, though operating cost for plate type coolers is lesser due to lower pressure drop.

    Best regards

  11. Pls anybody share the book-Power plant water chemistry-A practical guide by Bradbuceker.
    Thanks in advance.
