What is the meaning of End of run (EOR) and SOR on mass balance?
Thank you for your kindly explanation
Say you have a reactor with new batch of catalyst..
when you activate/commisioned it..
SOR is the first day you start using the catalyst
EOR is the final period the catalyst is still usable
I am no expert.. if someone has a better definition, please chip in..
SOR ( Start of Run ) and EOR ( End of Run ) are usual representation of process conditions for fixed bed catalytic processes in Basic Design. In basic design you receive SOR Process Flow diagram together with complete heat & mas balance which shows you the start-up process conditions. Usually with the time you need to gradually increase the severity of process conditions in order to compensate the catalyst deactivation. On EOR PFD you usually have process conditions on the end of catalyst life cycle ( depending on the process and respective type of catalyst, catalyst producer/licensor guaranty, but usually around 3 years). When you reach EOR conditions, it is a sign that you need to regenerate your catalyst ( if possible) or buy a new batch.
I hope this short explanation helps.
