hi... i need help in this... it's a design assignment... thanks in advance!
The question is: Design a plant for capturing 70% of carbon dioxide from a flue gas and converting it to 99.5 wt% pure methanol via the synthesis gas route. The plant specifications for each team are listed below. Assume that the plant is to be located in Indonesia and the operation time is 8000 h/yr. Natural gas is available, if required.
Flue gas: 1 atm, 200 C, SOX = 4000 ppm, NOX = 200 ppm, 15 wt% water
FC = 85.5 vol% N2, 6.4 vol% O2, 8.1 vol% CO2 (dry basis)
Flue gas flow rate (wet basis): 200 kmol/s
Natural Gas (vol%) at 10 bar, 30 C: 97.7% C1, 1.2% C2, 0.7% CO2, 0.4% N2
Desired Levels of SOX/NOX: SOX = 30 ppm, NOX = 5 ppm
currently my group is on removing NOx and SOx.
have come up with a few ideas:
1. using hydrogen peroxide
2. using chlorine dioxide
3. using sodium bicarbonate
which of these would be feasible in hysys and in this problem statement?
thanks!
