  1. Flange Leakage qualification for WN ASME Sec VIII Div1 CL 4500 RTJ-ASTM A182 GR F316

    Dear All,

    I am having one peculiar case, in which we need to qualify flange leakage for our project. In Caesar II software, we dont have any separate template for qualification of flange above 2500#.
    Please throw some light on this topic and we need to provide calculation sheet to client.

    Flange- CL 4500#
    Line Size -10" thk. 38.1 mm
    Design pr. - 273 barg
    Opr. pr. - 217.2 barg
    Design Temp - 330 deg C

    Hope by this time you got the appropriate response from some SME. If not, following may be helpful.

    Tightness class for bolted flanged joints with gaskets, are not defined in ASME BPVC or ASME Piping codes. Though, PVRC is working on this subject. EN 13555, EN1591-1 & EN 1591-2 define and specify the tightness classes. EN 13555 provides method for testing the leak rates. Provision in these codes may be helpful to find a solution for your case.
    Please note that tightness classes are specified based on the properties of service fluid, particularly its potential for environment damage or head hazards,
