Im after a basic welding ppt* then maybe going into alot more detail* something with images and comments if possible. Please can someone provide me with some sort of basic training so I can understand a WPS/PQR what to look for when looking at welds and types of NDE testing to ensure weld quality. Looking forward to your response

well* it's not that simple* you will need a few years of experience to get into welding engineering...do the advanved search here* you have a lot of AWS codes shared here* CEN & ISO's technical bodies/sectors considering welding* "50 X 50 Welding literature # 1..50"* EPRI books* a lot of welding metallurgy books* etc...don't forget you wil also need to learn a lot of things considering (weldable) materials* and boiler or power plants codes or pipeline codes* etc....where to start? I don't know...try to understand basics of most common welding processes (GTAW* GMAW* SMAW* SAW...)....it's easy to google a lot of about it

Thank you for your response* I am aware that you would require years of experience to gain a this type of skillset* however after googling and find out more information do you recommend and course textbooks that go from basic to very high level* just for my reference and wanting to gain an insight.

well* I don't know what you up to* EN/ISO (I can help you with that standards and rules very well) or ASME/API (I'm not into that)* but anyway...after you understood basic welding processes* welding parameters* basics of welding machines* I would recomend to you to:
-learn something about base materials you dealing with* and filler materials also
-learn basic welding standards (certificating welders/operators)* welding positions* measuring preheating/interpass temperature* basic WPS parameters (especially heat input)* basic visual recognizing of imperfections...etc...
