Well, depend where you are ...
If you are from the region where goverment controls licence holders then you need to obbey the state rules ( for example do not drop reservoir pressure below buble points etc)
Otherwise you main strategy is to maximaze you recovery factor and minimize you operational and capital costs to do this you need to follow several steps.
1. Create Netthickness map form petrel ( above you OWC ). This map then can be used to juctify future well candidates ( first you will put wells on sweet spots)
2. Create 1 additional countour ( we call it pure oil zone , geometrically this countour will show you the place where you do not have moovable water, since if you will put the well in oil-water zone the well will start rapidly produce water)
3. culculate the drinage area ( based on you well test data) and make a well pattern such a way that you can cover all field.
So you done with a reference case.
No you can create 2 variation with less wells and 2 variation with higher ammount of wells.
So you have 5 cases and you can put them to simulator and get simulation results, or you can use analitical model to jenerate production profiles.
Calculate economics and range the cases , the main goal is maximise your NPV and IRR.
This steps are jeneral and can be used on any filed
