    Internal floating Roof question

    good afternoon

We are designing a tank storing petroleum fuels (gasoline and diesel) as well as ethanol and biodiesel for blending.

In reviewing several recommendations I find that ethanol and gasoline tanks should be primarily floating roof. I know that an external floating roof tank does not require any pressure relief systems but my doubt arises with internal floating roof (IFR) tanks.

I wonder if a gasoline tank designed as IFR requires a tank blanketing system and if this system is applicable API standard 2000 applies.

    Thanks.

    Good day,

Design of floating roof using the smaller of the specific gravity of API 650 sec H 4.2.6 (0.7), or the minimum specific gravity of the liquid stored in the tank.for venting of tanks follow the API 2000.

    Re: Internal floating Roof question

    Dear friend,

I believe that internal floating roof, inside a fixed roof storage tank can be justified only in case of an aviation jet-fuel application, where rain-water must be kept out of reaching the hydrocarbon product, and not for storage of gasoline or diesel, in which case you can consider external floating roof for gasoline and fixed roof storage tank for diesel.

    good afternoon

we design a tank of ethanol with dome roof and a floating roof to prevent water contamination

    appreciate any feedback

    Thanks
