Thread: Wye branches design

1. Wye branches design

Hi to everyone,

I've been working in the design of a wye branch which is to be used on a 2.9 m Ø pipeline that divides into two 1,9 m Ø pipes. The problem consists of two parts, the first one is to determine the geometry of the device and the second is the design and stress analysis of the wye branch and its reinforcements. For both problems I've been using the methodologies exposed in the "AISI - Steel Penstocks and Tunnel Linners" and in the "USBR Stress Analysis of Wye Branches". However this references are dated before 1980.

I would like to ask if any of you could help me locating some new references, specially in the geometry part of the problem.

Thanks for all your help!

The European piping design Code EN 13480 covers (at least to a certain extent) the design of wye's.
You may find help in there. Let me know if it is of any use.
