The Seveso II Directive will be replaced in 2015 by the new Seveso III Directive. A major change will be the use of the Globally Harmonised System (GHS) for classification of chemicals to determine whether they are within the scope of the Directive. There is the potential for sites to change their COMAH status (top tier, lower tier or non-COMAH) when the new Directive is implemented, depending on the substances and quantities held.
EU Member States shall apply SEVESO III new measures and regulations from 1 June 2015.
