Thread: Horizontal Well Test Analysis- Linear Flow

  1. Exclamation Horizontal Well Test Analysis- Linear Flow

Does anyone knowst of a method to analyze the linear flow of a Build up test to obtain the average reservoir pressure? The well(s) I am analyzing are highly deviated displaying similar flow regimes as a horizontal well but the build up tests do not last long enough to see pseudo radial flow.

Try to use deviated well model in Saphir, in case of highly deviated well you should get response quiet similar to horizontal well. Here is a little manual for you -

After analyzing the response further, it is actually attributed to the geology of the formation (channel sands). The linear flow after the initial radial flow is a transition to the second flattening of the derivative due to a change of thickness of the sands. I have modeled it using a custom 2-D map i created in Ecrin. I am still wondering if there is a way to get the correct p* and eventually p average if only that linear flow is apparent.
