Hi,
Can someone please provide me with a sample BOM format for P&ID, consisting all the details?
Is there any prescribed format or is it always under the client's discretion?

Look interested.
Forgive me, I don't understand what you meant by that.
I'm doing a new offshore project and has been assigned the task to deduce BOM from the P&ID. I've been working in the Material Handling section and this is a good opportunity for me to jump into the field of my choice and don't want to screw this up.
Considering my appraisal period is also around the corner, I would like to make a good impression by having it done my way rather than consult my boss.
I just need a sample copy of BOM so that I can deduce the format and general outline of it.
Boss said I need to prepare BOM of Piping, Instruments, control systems etc.
Any help would be much appreciated.
In my practice the BOMs usually come with the isometric drawings, at least for the mechanical (piping) components; see one example embedded here:

For the other items separate lists (e.g. instruments, special components) are generated.
IMHO the generation of BOM from P&ID is simply not possible. Better to say, you can make some tentative list for the main components and maybe for the tees and flanges, blinds, etc. which are shown on the drawings, but defining the pipes and other fittings is not possible without ISOs.
