Good afternoon,
Some help with Petrel and depth correction would be really appreciated - we're now definitely out of ideas.
I have imported a time-file sent to me by our geophysicist. The file, imported as points, converted nicely to a surface. Similarly, I don't have any problems converting the surface to a horizon using a velocity model, using the V0 values also given to me by our geophysicist. However, the horizon, following the velocity model, is definitely out of place, and is far higher than it should be. We have received time-depth-converted files of this horizon from the gp before, and therefore we know roughly where the horizon should be. Comparison of the time files shows minor differences, and the depths shouldn't be so out. I should say that I have had problems connecting well tops during the velocity model - I get an error message saying that my wells don't pass through the surface, even though they do. Anyway, I can run the model without tops anyway so it's not a problem. However, I have tried to run a depth correction (z to z as opposed to TWT to Z) using the v.model, where I do need to connect my well tops. I then get the same 'the wells don't pass through the surface' error message.
Am I missing something? Has anyone experienced this problem before? Are there others approaches that I could take to correct the depth of my surface?
Thanks in advance!
Georgina
