I have a query regarding Loose Flange Design as per ASME Section VIII, Div.1, App 2. Nowhere in the formulas is the shell thickness appearing. If the calculated flange thickness is say 30 mm, what should be the MINIMUM shell thickness to which the flange is attached by a lap joint. I would be grateful if somebody can throw more light on this. Thanks in advance.
