As'salam'o Alikum!
Can someone give me a reference design clause/documents from ASME on the 200 litre (52 US gallons) flammable liquid storage drums? Do we have to provide/install a pressure relief/safety valves on it for safety measures to avoid BLEVE? So far, I know, the cap provided for dispensing/filling should be designed so that if the internal pressure exceeds the design parameters, it should blow-off itself! Can someone please confirm?
I’m working on a "fire protection parameters" for a perfume manufacturing facility that burnt into ashes in this June/July 2010 (SYNAROME PERFUMES, Pakistan) and the ruling damaging factor, so far investigated, was the unavailability of PSV’s on the liquid drums (the cap didn't blew either)! The damage wouldn’t have been too much if this simple PSV provision would have been provided!
Thanks in advance,
best regards,
Muhammad Uzair Barry
