Thread: well design

  1. Exclamation well design

    I got couple of queries.

    1. When we bump plug after cementation and pressure test up to 80% of burst of casing. However I want to know that what is the net force acting downwards and does this increased force show on the drillers panel.

(according to my understanding it must be diff pressure x area of cross section of plug and this will show as added load on the drillers panel)

    2. When we do well head / BOP pressure test by cup tester does the total force act on the sting ( force= pressure x area of cross:confused confused confused section pf the plug) or is this force partially distributed on the well head. as we need to find the limit of the pressure test as excessive pressure test may lead to drill string failure.

All pressure test is related to the weaknest part/section of wich you are testing. In he case of wellhead test with cup tester, you must ensure you have a clear path in case of the test fluid pass to the casing string (in case of leaking in the cup tester tool). Some tools have a kind of peek hole (sorry guys, i dont remember the "real" name in english) to show you if the test is gone wrong (test fluid is passing to the casing string), in this case you will see the test fluid going out the tool (on surface, in the drilling floor)...
