Non Pressure part Joints

Hello,

Presently, I'm dealing with pressure vessels with reference to ASME Section VIII & IX. Both the sections talk about pressure part joints.

I also have non pressure parts joints in the equipment. These joints are Single sided fillet weld joint. There is no grooving in the corner of L joint or T joint.

Are these joints are acceptable by ASME or any other international organizations?

How can I addressed using ASME?

Can anybody provide me some sort of guidance?

For the non-pressure part weld, you can check to the pressure vessel design manual, pressure vessel hand book.

General speaking, the internal welding (non-pressure parts) are not subjust to the code. But it does not means you can do anything you want. YOu have to make sure the weld can take the load during operation, tranprotation and erction. Normally it can be checked by strutural calculation. Most of time, you can make th eweld very conservtive compare to load. Maeng is right that design manual provde some kind of guideline on this.
