Thread: pressure rating of threads

  1. pressure rating of threads

    Hi everyone,

I have been looking for information on the pressure rating of a threaded joint (both straight and tapered). The only data i found was a small table in the ASME B31.1-2007, material independent, which seems to be very stringent. In comparison i found some data in a swagelok catalogue that has much higher values (for some materials), but that's not an official table.
Can anyone refer to a standard that has more specific information on this? In particular it would be very helpful to have a European Norm. I was looking at EN10226 on pipe threads, but that doesn't mention any pressure or forces.

    Big thanks in advance!

1- ASME B16.3 is threaded fittings of class 150 and 300 which is equivalent to BS EN 10242 (PN25).
2- ASME B16.11 is threaded fittings of class 2000, 3000 and 6000 which is equivalent to BS 3799 for high pressure applications.
