Re: Investment and Risk in the Petroleum Industry

    Hi. Everybody.

I wan to begin this thread making some introduction about issues in the Petroleum Projects. Theses issues are important for planning a inversion projects in the Petroleum Industry.

First we need to define "Assets" which are the entities that brings benefit or possitive value to an Petroleum Industry.

Now I would like to share about the different types of assets and classification and managment.

It is important to recognize that in order to analyze the economy in the petroleum industry, we must begin by assets. For example: a oil or gas well Producer is an asset; a compression gas plant is an asset; a station stream, is another asset; so on. Active trigger production to the Petroleum industry and thus indirectly incomes, and depreciation of those assets reduce these incomes. The maintenance costs of each asset are the other part of the scale that balance the cash flow of the Petoleum Company. The risk associated with these assets and their management is allowing eventually plan maintenance actions on these assets; ie well workover, maintenance of a pipeline or pipeline; which are also to be active.
