Flange Bolt Torque Value
Dear friends,
Can somebody please help me with a correlation between gasket material and needed bolt torque value for given process? I was asked today to prepare a report on a torque value change when gasket in use, say klingerit type unknown to me, is replaced with 1/8" thick cured rubber on flange face. I am aware that the relation is fairly if not very complicated one, but I need something to start from.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Best Regards,

Dear friend, please refere Pressure Vessel Design Manual by Dennis R. Moss. There you will find procedure for the same.
Thanks.

There is a dedicated and clear chapter about bolt torque, bolt pretension load with or without bolt greasing , with wrench or controlled tightening in this standard
API 6A
I believe it is a standard about Christmas trees for oil industry
Unfortunately I do not have a copy here , but I am wiling to talk in detail if I find it.
if someons has this standard please upload it , than we can talk further

I would recommend ASME PCC-1 Guidelines for Pressure Boundary Bolted Flange Joint Assembly:

And secondly for a brief synopsis - Appendix S of ASME Sec VIII-1
