Re: API 660 9th Edition
In earlier edition (8th) this clause number was 10.3.9.
10.3.9 Flanged joints that have been taken apart after a hydrostatic test shall be reassembled with unused gaskets and re-hydrotested.
It got revised as below.
10.2.11 Flanged joints that have been taken apart after the final pressure test shall be reassembled with new gaskets and re-pressure tested. Self-energizing seals can be reused, subject to approval of the purchaser.
These clauses are related to pressure testing requirements. After Final Pressure test (e.g. hydrotest) if we going to open up flanged joint, it needs to replace gasket of this joint with new one. After this replacement only such flange joint can be putted into service. Self energizing seals are excluded from this requirement. It can be used but if client specifically ask to replace it then same needs to be followed.
