COMTRADE Viewer

Hi guys,

what COMTRADE Viewer do you recommend?

I have always used SIGRA (Siemens), but I would like to know if there is something else out there. Indeed, I am having problems with SIGRA (with the license and that) that I can't manage to solve.

You can also use mathcad.. but you can to create equations for your file. Most relay softwares have their own comtrade viewer i also use sigra. Sometimes SEL analytic assistant or .net relayer..

@furious_jimmy can you show me how to make impedance plot in TOP? Including its distance relay setting? Could you make me a pdf file how to? Thanks...

as far my experience sigra is the best, it can read comtrade file from others, like SEPAM from schneider, multi relay from GE

Comtrade viewer by default should be able to view the comtrade files regardless of the brand of the relay. Comtrade file is an standard format as mandate by IEEE.

It is like pdf file that you could use Foxit Reader, Adobe Reader or any other pdf reader.

However some comtrade that less features hence the are free. Sigra is indeed the best but it is not free. Although we can download p.i.r.a.t.e.d version.
