Questions related to process modeling software
Hello,
I am a ChemE student. I have few questions. I see there are so many process modeling softwares like Aspen, Aspen Plus, Hysys, Pro II, Unisim etc.
1. What is the difference between Aspen Plus and Hysys etc? Can a problem be solved in both? Will they give same results?
2. Why are there so many versions available? Hysys 3.2, 7.3, 8.6? If I have one, does it matter which version I have?
3. I will graduate in a year. I want to get a job in this field. Where should I start?
4. Where can I get Chemcad, Unisim etc?
Thanks a lot!
Re: Questions related to process modeling software
Hi Adiroop,
1- Both Aspen Plus and Aspen HYSYS is from AspenTech Inc. As AspenTech stated: Aspen HYSYS specialized in oil and gas simulation, where aspen plus for Chemical and petrochemical industry.
for many problems you can use hysys to solve them, specially when using aspen components and aspen properties, but in sum cases you need to convert to aspen plus for more rigorous simulation specially for petrochemical problems.
2- Each version of hysys comes with new features and also improvement in the internal solving techniques as well as developing in the property packages.
3- You need to strengthen your processes knowledge at first, read about the simulation itself and what its application in that field, Practice, practice, ...
4- I don't have them, Google for them...
