Does anyone know how to calculate the weight of a elliptical head in a pressure vessel?
Thanks in advance.

for queries regarding pressure vessel kindly consult pressure vessel by Eugene one of the excellent ebooks.

I use the design charts provided free by PVENG - see the section called ASME Calcs. They also provide free pressure vessel spreadsheets.

I hope you would have found those two references useful. However I think each Head Manufacturare have their own Manual to derive Head blank plate diameter, then using the thickness and material density you can estimate Head weight.
Other way around is For 2:1 elliptical 1.084*D^2 x thickness x density will give quick estimate. But in practical i find the factor 1.2 is more appropriate than 1.084. note this does not include Straight face of the Head.

Thank brow, I'll try that. Actually, from what I've been noticing, each has a way to calculate the weight, I will try various ways and see the value closest.
Thanks Dear,
It is really good.

Amit
