Simulating Medium Chain triglyceride Aspen Plus Please HELP
Hi guys
I have a problem here
My boss wants me to simulate a medium chain triglyceride in aspen plus running into a heat exchanger to check whether my heat exchanger is oversize a not
However, In aspen plus database there is no such thing as Medium chain Triglyceride
I have some knowledge in simulating heat exchangers and distillation columns but i have not made a simulation property myself
can anyone guide me what should i study to make this molecules in the simulation property?
Best regards

In the components - specifications, "find", then in the databanks tab, add NISTV82 NIST-TRC, then in the compounds tab, search and add "tricaprylin" and add also "tricaprin". These are C8 and C10 triglycerides (MCT's)
On the molecular structure, calculate bonds
On estimation "estimate all missing properties"
You can now do your simulation. Do a blend of 50 to 60% of tricaprylin and balance of tricaprin in the feed stream and this will give you accurate properties of MCT's. I just tried it just now.

you can search for Trioliene molecule similar to that.
