FEA calculation in U-stamp
According our NoBo we should check any design calculation ourself if its an U-stamp. We can't do a FEA-calculation ourself because we don't have any license so we can't do any FEA-calculation if its an U-stamp apparatus? Does anyone has any experience in this issue?

Re: FEA calculation in U-stamp
We need to calculate nozzle-loads on a square vessel. But thats not the problem. The problem is that according U-stamp we need to verify the FEA-calculation ourselves. Is this a big issue of can we do the check by some one else.
Re: FEA calculation in U-stamp
Bokkel2014,
As per Div-2, you have to validate the FEA calculation. If you can not do then it is the responsibility of the person who is doing that FEA. This can be a big issue if the person doing FEA is only know how to operate the software and he does not know FEA and Design Basics.
Thanks.

Do you really want to do the FEA, you can verify the thickness of tank shell by using flat plate theory as per roark's formula. as per as review of FEA reports are concerned, the FE analyst shall give you the detailed report along with results summary and conclusions with all reference to all code clause. As mentioned in your Quality manual you need to verify and approve the reports generated by external agency (it is expecetd that you will at least check the inputs and code acceptance criterias in the report)
