Shutdown Valve Sizing/Selection

Dear Friends!

Is there anybody please to explain how to sizing/selection a shutdown Valve?
can I use a 6" SDV at 8" Flowline? my fluid is natural gas, 6MMSCFD, 200PSI, 100F.
