how do I get prepared as a reservoir engineer?
I am a young and just newly graduated with bachelor of technology in chemical engineering. I was recently shortlisted for the role of reservoir engineer from an oil and gas company. What do I need to do to get mysefl equipped and prepared for the job. I have a certification in subsea oil and gas exploitation, also proficient in HYSYS but I have no work experience presently in oil and gas sector.
Thanks all
Re: how do I get prepared as a reservoir engineer?
The company that is recruiting people for RE as in your case should be aware of your background in Chemical Engineering, so I would think they will provide you with the required training in Reservoir Eng if you are chosen. They will be looking for other general engineering skills (such as problem solving, etc) rather than specific knowlegde in petroleum reservoir engineering. Furthermore, I can recall many distinguished authors in petroleum reservoir engineering that have a background in Chemical Engineering.
As for Hysys, as a reservoir engineer I bet you´ll never use it again. The certification in subsea oil and gas exploitation will be much more useful.
My advice for you is to read any book on the fundamentals of reservoir engineering, you can find many by searching the web.
Congratulations for your success so far and good luck.
