Intro Post plus information on NDT levels soon going from 1-3 to 1-4
Hello Everyone,
I am a Non-Destructive Testing Engineer in the Oil and Gas sector. Recently I have been involved in discussions where BINDT (PCN) and AINDT have been formulating their plan to implement level 4 in the certification schemes for NDT. The level 4 will have to have an Engineering degree in addition to having level 3's in the methods. Level 3's will have their abilities reduced somewhat as well. Only recognized degrees from approved Universities will be counted. This could be a big change. Luckily I already have a 4 year engineering degree from an approved University :). ASME is also introducing an NDT scheme because they consider ASNT to be inadequate for their needs.
Regards, Kronar

Hello KronartheBlack!
If this go through...it would be a tragic moment for NDT worldwide!
I'm both Level 3(in RT, UT, MT and PT) and Engineer, but I recognize that are personnel in NDT who doesn't have a college or university degree but they know a lot about the subject. Some of them with an excellent combined expertise in theoretical and practical parts.
A supposed Level 4 will undermine all the Level 3 without an Engineering Degree and all Engineers that are not from an approved University regardless of their professional quality.
I understand that this could be a break for some people but would be tragic.
Regards!
