Availability On Demand (AOD)
Hi,
I am doing a project which the system is operating all the time but when the function of the system is the adhoc basic. Therefore, my client propose to me to use the Availability On Demand (AOD) method to prove to them the availability can be achieve 99.9%.
Appreciate if some one can provide me some guide or standard for the AOD method, please?

Hi yong
Availabity on Demand is not a method: is a measure of the performance of a system; its opposite (complementary to 100%) is the Unavailability on Demand (in your system what is requested is an unavailability of 0.1% at maximum).
An example of such a system might be a Safety Instrumented Function (i.e. a trip function) for which its performance according IEC 61508 is measured against the complementary of the Availability on Demand i.e. the "Probability of Failure on Demand" concept is used.
About your request: I think you could learn something in a Reliability course
hope this helps
