I am new in this pipeline engineering , I had a project that due to its contract arrangement, the coated pipeline will have to be in storage for estimated 3 month or more.
My problem is to know the measure maximum height of stacked coated pipe in stockyard so that the weight of pipe is not damaging the coating...
Do you have any source, spreadsheet, or reference?

Note that API 5 LW is only managing stacking during transportation, not in a yard where space is huge...

1 SPECIFIC
1.1 System Stacking Tubes
1.1.1 The first layer of tubes of the stack must be supported by wooden beams with
minimum length of 3 m cross-section of at least 15 cm x 15 cm.
1.1.2 The support should be installed so that the tubes have a stored
trim at least 1% to avoid the accumulation of water in their interiors.
1.1.3 Stacking of pipes shall be in accordance with FIGURES 1 and 2.

1.1.4 In the case of storage be made in less than 12 months under
normal or less than 6 months in areas aggressive, the tubes can be stored in the form
pyramidal or prismatic, adopting the calculation of the maximum number of layers described in

1.1.5 For the storage of coated pipes with FBE, coal tar and asphalt enamel should
make use of bags with sand or rice hulls to space the tubes (see Figure 1). The
life of the bags must be compatible with the storage period. For the protection of
FBE coated tubes should be kept the rings of synthetic rope also
spaced.
1.1.6 In the case of storage for a period exceeding 12 months under normal conditions, or
6 months in areas aggressive to be adopted the system of prismatic stacking
wedge spacer (as FIGURE 3) between the tubes of the same layer, to
prevent accumulation of waste and water.

Coating consisting of three layers, the first FBE primer in spray coating. second layer

Handling
A bare and coated pipes
1.1 The handling of the tubes should be done to avoid damage, especially the bevels and the
coating.
1.2 For coated pipe, the handling should be done using straps with a minimum width of 15 cm,
made of rubber, plastics, leather or canvas, free of sharp, such as screws and rivets. One can

2 Storage
2.1 Coating Materials

2.1.2 All other materials required for the coating should be stored in a covered and

with the oldest date of manufacture.
