Summary: Comprehensive work describing manufacture of speciality fuels
Rating: 5
The book is divided in two parts. Part one of the book covers manufacturing process, blending and specifications of petroleum fuels such as LPG, naphtha, gasolines, aviation turbine fuels, diesels and residual fuel oils while the second part of the book deals with petroleum specialty products such as bitumen, petroleum coke , carbon black, lube basestock manufacture, lube blending, turbine fuels, used oil regeneration, cutting oils, hydraulic fluids, petroleum solvents, petroleum greases, waxes, use of petroleum products as pesticides, refrigeration gases, transformer and insulating oils and white mineral oils.

The book also covers hot topics in fuel engineering like environment impact reduction. In recent years not many books of this type has come out which cover the subject in such details. For example chapter on bitumens also covers manufacture of polymer modified bitumen, cutback bitumen and bitumen emulsions. The chapter on gasoline , apart from motor gasolines also deals with aviation gasoline blending and specifications.

Similarly chapter on white mineral oils , apart from hydrotreating process, covers in great details oleum treatment process, clay treatment and percolation process including bauxite regeneration technique and blending of petrolatum from white oils. The book is a must for students and industry people engaged in handling and trading of petroleum fuels and petroleum specialty products
