## Lifting Lug Design for pressure vessel

I have to a lifting lug design a vertical vessel. Orientation of lifting lug – Flat. To design the lifting lug I require Additional Normal / tangential load. Can Anybody tell me from wher I will get this load.

1. Load / Force direction in verical (Y-direction) is generally calculated as follow:
Fv = Vessel Weight x Safety Factor / Quantity of Lug.
2. Assume Maximum Lift Angle from Vertical. Let say angle, theta = 20deg.
3. Find Force on Sling as follow:
Fs = Fv/Cos theta
4. So, Load in tangetial can be calculate as follow:
Ft = Fs x Sin theta.
