Heat-r-Rate-r
Heat-r-Rate-r Version 3.0
Heat-r-Rate-r software was developed for furnace engineering support of thermal and mechanical design, rating and performance evaluation in convection section coil heat transfer applications for the Chemical Process Industry. The program can simulate the performance of existing convection preheat coils, "as-is" as well as develop new designs, determining flue gas and process fluid pressure drop, heat transfer and maximum tube wall temperature rigorously, calculating row by row for given inlet conditions. In furnace engineering services simulating furnace design or actual performance, individual coil construction may be of complex designs, including mixing bare and finned surfaces together and variable fin densities and height. The program has all standard materials for all thermo-mechanical design and rating verification. Heat-r-Rate-r software can be used in furnace engineering services to predict the performance for complete convection section preheat systems, simulating the operation of individual coils in a system as they interact with all others. Once a furnace and convection section has been modeled, alternatives can be explored for achieving maximized benefits. Individual or multiple coils within a furnace can be replaced or modified and revised predictions can be quickly developed for the entire convection section preheat system, to show the performance improvement. The software incorporates rigorous fuel combustion calculations to develop flue gas composition and flow and adiabatic flame temperature required for heat transfer predictions. Heat-r-Rate-r software simulations provide furnace engineering support in plants to design replacement furnace coils and other major equipment upgrades, such as installing a combustion air preheater, or resizing limiting components for improving plant capacity or efficiency
